Ever since Theo was born it’s been tough for me to spend time alone with Isla. He’s still nursing every hour or two during the day (my little pot-bellied pig) so planning one-on-one activities is nearly impossible. I try to sit with her and color or build with her Legos, but more often than not I’m either holding or nursing Theo at the same time. As a result, I think she’s struggling a little and missing her mama. So when my little sister came for a quick visit over the weekend to meet Theo I jumped at the chance to plan an activity for Isla — making Christmas cookies! We spread it out over two days, cutting/baking the shapes Saturday night and then decorating them in the morning. We turned on “Polar Express,” Theo and my sister snuggled on the couch and I showed Isla how to make a proper mess. She was mostly interested in dumping and eating the sprinkles, licking the icing and watching the movie, but I’d say this is the start of a fun holiday tradition! And hopefully Isla enjoyed having her mama hands-free for once, even if only for a short time.
Here are a million pictures because she was so stinking cute the whole time.
