I own one kimono, which is currently on heavy rotation again after I wore it constantly last summer, mostly as a beach cover-up (seen here and here). Now that I’m pregnant again, I’m thinking of investing in a few more to get me through until fall. Most of my maternity clothes from last time are long-sleeve and designed for colder months, since Isla was due in January, but I’m not interested in buying a whole new summer wardrobe. Instead, I’m hoping to get by with a couple of pairs of maternity shorts, a few simple, non-maternity t-shirt and tank dresses and camis with kimonos. The kimonos are the best way to get a little more coverage (especially at the end when every part of me (but especially my arms) blows up like a balloon) without adding too much fabric and heat. The other great thing about kimonos is you can splurge on an expensive, delicate one, or go the more affordable route. Just about every brand carries them nowadays and in a variety of prices. I absolutely love the look of the longer, flowing style, but I’m afraid I’ll need to grow a few inches first. I really love this beauty.
