Finally! The nursery reveal! Isla’s nursery is officially my favorite room in the house. It gets the most light of any other room, which makes me feel so happy when I’m in there. And those hardwood floors were so worth it! I searched high and low to find every perfect piece to make the room look exactly how I pictured. Rather than come up with a theme, I decided to go crazy with colors and prints. I really want her to be stimulated at every turn and to feel inspired by the space. I wanted elements that can grow with her, like the beautiful rug, the love seat and the prints on the walls. I was also adamant about repurposing things we already owned rather than buying sets of furniture. I much prefer the mismatched look.
The love seat, which has been in my family since my mom was young, was the first piece I knew I wanted so it served as the foundation and my main inspiration piece. The dresser was next. Chris has been using it for years so we decided to paint it (though the color was undecided until we found the rug). The best part about the dresser is that it once belonged to Chris’ older brother. Chris lost his brother tragically a few years ago so I just love that there is a piece of him in our daughter’s room. For the crib I knew I wanted something sleek and simple but not overly modern. The second I saw this one I had eyes for no other. Then came the rug. I am in love with this beauty. I think it helps bring the room to life and really brings out the color of the love seat, which by itself can look a little dull since it has faded a bit over the last 100+ years! The wardrobe was a gem of a Craigslist find and we got it for a steal, and the bookcase and lamp were last minute additions. There are a few elements I’m still waiting to add (like pillows for the love seat and some belly baskets I ordered from Serena and Lily on backorder), and I can’t wait until Isla is big enough to play and make a mess in there. I’m so looking forward to seeing her make the space her own!
