Our all-day bus tour of the Snaefellsness Peninsula in western Iceland was the rainiest of our entire trip. We’re talking steady buckets of sideways rain most of the day. I took hundreds of photos of the magical seaside cliffs of Arnarstapi and only a handful came out. The rest are covered in raindrops. But the rain couldn’t take away from these majestic views. As a shore lover–you know me–I was in absolute heaven on the cliffs. I want to go back on a sunny day and have a picnic right there by the crashing waves and squawking gulls. We stopped at a little restaurant that served us the most delicious fish soup, visited black sand beaches, harbor towns and a national park and even did a little bird watching. We saw a few rays of sunshine on our way back to Reykjavik, which was really just a huge tease, but overall it was one of the most spectacular days of my life, even dripping wet and blowing away.
[see chris all the way up there?!]
