gazing at the sea

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I have lots to share from our trip down the shore for the holiday. While visiting my family in Bradley Beach, we heard a rumor that the beautiful site of our wedding rehearsal dinner, McLoones Pier House, in Long Branch, was destroyed by Sandy. After touring the southern towns (Belmar, Bradley and Avon) we decided to drive up the coast and see for ourselves. Luckily, all is well and McLoones is open for business! ¬† I can’t tell you how happy I was to hear that news and see it for ourselves, especially since the restaurant sits just feet from the ocean on the boardwalk. So many of our friends have lost their homes and businesses so it was nice to see a Sandy survivor. Tune in tomorrow for a look at the unreal devastation in Avon-by-the-Sea. We’re talking an upside down building and an MIA boardwalk.

snapping photos of the missing boardwalk just a few blocks from McLoones

it was so cold and windy walking along the boardwalk in Long Branch, I almost ended up in the ocean myself. winter has officially arrived.

this used to be a boardwalk
