We are in the midst of a very exciting bedroom makeover! We’re currently sleeping in an ikea bed circa my husband’s college days that leaves us feeling geriatric by daylight. It’s brutal — I mean day ruining brutal — so we decided it’s time for a long overdue upgrade. I discovered matchy matchy bedrooms are not my cup of tea. I don’t want to be stuck with a big wooden bed frame and its limited selection of complimentary furniture. Instead, we’re going with an upholstered headboard — something that was on my “will not consider” list just three weeks ago. Thank you plethora of design blogs and Pinterest for your inspiration. After much shopping around, we decided on this headboard from Crate and Barrel. I absolutely love the shape and the crisp off-white color. And, ahem, the price is right! We have all-white linens (though I’m shopping for some printed euro pillow shams for a pop of color) and I’m planning to paint the walls grey (it’s currently a soft mocha and I’m just not into brown). Dressers and bedside tables are my next project and I’m excited that I can go in all different directions with each piece. We’re also toying with tearing up our carpets in the hopes that the 80-year-old hardwood floors on the first level are hiding underneath, but that project has me a little nervous. In the meantime, I am dreaming of a good night’s sleep!
I would love to see your bedrooms! Send me links in the comments! These photos and more appear on my Pinterest board “headboard hunting.”
