When it comes to travel, comfort is key. But since I don’t own a pair of sweatpants and loungewear isn’t really my thing, I usually throw on an oversized button down, stretchy denim and a few classic accessories. We had an eight-hour redeye flight last night to Barcelona for our long-awaited honeymoon and I picked pieces comfortable enough for some shut-eye and cute enough for a stroll through the city — since we have no idea if we can check into our hotel right away and we don’t want to lose one minute of exploring time.

i mean, these need no explanation! though my husband could have told me my cuffs are crooked.

i snagged this carryall from Zara a few days ago (thanks to a birthday gc from my girl Susan) for three reasons: 1. it’s light, 2. it has a handle and a cross-body strap and 3. it’s big enough for my travel guide, journal, iPad and a few essentials, but it isn’t the size of my entire body. (bonus: it was only $35!)

this oxford shirt is so soft it actually feels like flannel, only it’s cotton so it’s breathable and light, but still warm enough to protect me from those pesky airplane fans. the scarf is essential for the same reason. not pictured: my leather jacket. it’s fall, which means i don’t leave home without it.

Loungewear is definitely my thing…but I’d like for it to not be.
