stylish summer steals

I confess … after the wedding I went on a shopping spree. But in my defense, my favorite summer splurges are really steals! Everything here I found for less than $100, and, actually, only two things on this list were purchased at full price. Ah, the power of a promo code. I’m feeling light, bright and extra printy this season so my closet is stuffed with lots of neon, pink, and airy fabrics. We’re on the go all summer long, so the key for me is to have a few great pieces that can be mixed and matched and thrown together for a variety of occasions. What’s your summer style?

1. Zara shiny flat court shoe
2. Rachel Roy the colleen dress
3. BDG 5-pocket short via Urban Outfitters
4. Poshlocket harlow arrow bangle
5. Collective Concepts printed blouse via Piperlime
6. Rachel Roy maritime necklace set
7. Rachel Roy the twirl top
8. Athropologie two-tone shades
9. Warehouse straw shopper via ASOS (the best beach carryall ever!)
10. Pim + Larkin printed swim tunic via Piperlime (seen here)

inspiration: color

I’m not trying to sound philosophical, I swear, but as I begin to embrace this new chapter of my life (you know, being married), it feels like the world around me is suddenly sparkling. I’m pretty sure our neighborhood nursery has always felt like wonderland and the Ben Franklin Bridge has been hiding a lucky pot of gold for as long as I’ve lived here, fuchsia flower boxes aren’t a thing of the future and we’ve indulged in our favorite gelato at mosaic tiled tables many times before. Yet somehow, I never noticed. Maybe the glow around me is really … just me. Happiness looks pretty good. Have a happy weekend!

summer solstice

Essie Fifth Avenue + A Crewed Interest + Turquoise and Caicos

In honor of the first day of summer, here are a few things getting me excited about my favorite season. From bright, fun colors, to blooming fruits and flowers, this is hands down the best time of year. What are your favorite signs of summer? (p.s. this is my 100th blog post!)

a little wedding sparkle destined for a permanent place in our home soon

there’s a big one on the horizon and I predict it’s going to be my best year yet

i introduced you to our “bossy” fig tree last year (post here) — which ended up providing us with favors for all our wedding guests! — but this year we have something just as exciting in store for these not-so-little guys, so stay tuned!

seashore sparkle

Is it possible to fall in love on your honeymoon? We stumbled upon White & Viviane Rowane Design during our minimoon in Cape May and the second I stepped through the door I was head over heels. Every single uniquely stunning piece in this sophisticated seashore shop has a home in our home. I mean, is it just me, or is this Austrian crystal and pearl picture frame just begging for a beautiful wedding portrait? I think so, too. The trouble was convincing my new husband that it was worth its price tag. Instead I went home with a seashell dish for my daily jewels and a teal cachepot, which now holds my makeup brushes. On our next visit to Cape May, you can bet that frame will be coming home with me.

shorty pants

We’re all aware that height is really not my thing. Even the best man at our wedding told our guests that Chris and I will “never see eye-to-eye” because I am “vertically challenged.” But hey, 4’11″ and proud. Only problem: pants! I can never … ever ever never … find pants. Ankle length and cropped jeans work — hence my love of denim — but dress pants are a different beast altogether. So imagine my delight when I found these pink beauties at Zara last weekend. A little extra roll to show off my ankles and they are perfect. Plus they’re linen, and in summer, I could live in linen. I found this open-back top the same day and couldn’t resist the entire outfit.
