sound advice

The other day I was browsing the racks at Zara when I overheard an older gentleman giving his wife a lesson in fashion. A few of us ladies in earshot couldn’t help but giggle out loud at what was actually pretty good advice: “You want a man to glance at your skirt and then look into your eyes. That’s how a woman should dress.” Now that’s a philosophy to live by! Here are a few skirts I’m currently loving that might just help you single girls out there catch a man’s eye.

1. Alice + Olivia myra metallic miniskirt
2. Warehouse asymmetric drape skirt
3. ZARA fringed skirt
4. Factory by Erik Hart skirt mini jersey foil print
5. Forever 21 accordion pleat maxi skirt
6. ASOS leather mini skirt
7. findersKEEPERS starstruck skirt

better than sweats

It’s not often you’ll catch me in sweats or PJs. After a long day at work in heels, tights and skirts, the first thing I do when I get home is throw on a pair of my favorite jeans. Even last Sunday, as tired as I was, after a few lazy hours I just had to pull myself together. This soft, stylish sweatshirt from Madewell is a comfy PJ compromise, perfect for a casual afternoon spent sipping chai, reading the latest issues of my favorite magazines and enjoying the view of the city from a bookstore café with my fiancé.

100 days!

Today officially marks 100 days until my happily ever after! AAHH! I had a little surprise planned for my fiancé, but I came down with something and haven’t left the bed since Monday afternoon. And then in he walks after work today with three delicious cupcakes — in his and hers favorite flavors. We lit a few candles in the shape of 1-0-0 and enjoyed the moment. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it 100 times over … I am one lucky girl!

{yep, that’s me. glasses, wet hair and as close as I get to “comfy clothes” … now back to bed!}

the white blazer

I tend to build my outfits around one piece. I pick a dress, a shoe, a skirt or even a bag and complete the look from there. When I woke up the other morning to semi-mild temps — for February at least — I couldn’t wait to throw on this light, drapey, white blazer I bought a few weeks ago. Feeling springy, I broke out the bright nail polish, my essential spring green Michael Kors bag and a silky purple top, and paired them with my essential winter wardrobe: ruffled booties and black skinnies. Anyone else hoping spring is just around the corner?

wedding teaser

After a hair trial fail and an overdone makeover, I was really excited to find a few pretty pieces this week to help complete our wedding puzzle. I don’t want to give too much away, but we’re going for romantic and simple with a vintage touch. Oh, and remember our fig tree (here)? She’ll be making a reappearance at our wedding, too. I have a vision, I’m just hoping hoping hoping it all comes together! As an added bonus, our tasting last weekend was AH-MAY-ZING! I’m thinking of ordering one of every entrée just for myself! Next up: cake and hors d’oeuvre tastings + shopping for stylish, blushing-bride-to-be outfits for my upcoming party weekends. I’m thinking soft, light and fun! Things just keep looking up.
